How Does IPF Work?

Inactivated Pepsin Fragment (IPF)

IPF has 2 modes of action:

1. Directly preventing CD4 T T-Cells

2. Activating the Th1 immune response, i.e., turning on macrophages that actually ingest the tumor, killer T also known as T-lymphocytes that destroy abnormal cells

Mode 1

By Binding to specific proteins on the outer surface of tumor particles, enzolytic IPF directly prevents infective CD4 T-cells. GP120 binds to CD4 on T-cells and then to a co-receptor. This causes GP41 to attach to the cell. IPF inactivates GP120 and GP41.

Mode 2

Enzolytic IPF binds to T-cells and activates Th1 an immune system response that kills infected cells, cytokines, and IPF. IFN-y, IL-2, and TNF – are cytokines, small proteins released by T-cells and received by other cells to generate a specific immune response.

IPF appears to modulate helper T1 cell’s expression of elaborate cytokines INF-y, and IL-2, which selectively promote cell-mediated immune response and subsequently stimulate cytotoxic lymphocytes. These lymphocytes have a prominent role in the host’s immunologic response. Proteins encoded by these pathogens enter the endogenous pathway for antigen presentation and are expressed on the surface of the infected cells as a complex with class I MHC – proteins. IPF appears to present a novel mechanism to stimulate an innate immune response.
